Doug has a B.S. in Microbiology from Colorado State University and a M.S. in Animal Science from Colorado State University. He has conducted post-graduate studies, Epidemiology, Loma Linda University
The emphasis of the Poultry program is: Environmental Health Food Safety Environmental Control Avian Disease Prevention
Doug is also involved in the California Egg Quality Assurance Program which includes a certification program of egg producers. He also conducts workshops for producers which include topics such as fly and manure management methods. His research interests are in development of rapid cooling methods development for shell eggs to enhance quality and improve food safety.
